What's Wrong with Me

Olivia Rodrigo and Robert Smith team up for "What's Wrong with Me," the tenth track on Rodrigo's third album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. Released June 12, 2026 through Geffen Records, the song blends Rodrigo's confessional pop with Smith's alternative rock pedigree. Lyrically, it captures the anxiety of a crumbling relationship, questioning whether the problem lies within oneself or the partnership itself. The chorus repeats the title as a mantra of self-doubt, while Smith's baritone adds a layer of weary wisdom.

Rodrigo premiered the song live at Primavera Sound before the album dropped, with Smith joining her onstage for the second verse. That performance turned the track into a symbolic handoff between generations of rock and pop. Critics praised the pairing, noting how Smith's six-string bass and guitar work gave the song a richer, more ornate texture than Rodrigo's earlier material. The production, handled by Dan Nigro, keeps the beat upbeat even as the lyrics spiral inward.

The collaboration marks a stylistic pivot for Rodrigo, moving from stripped-down ballads toward baroque pop and synth-pop. Smith contributed background vocals and piano alongside his guitar parts, and his presence helped the song land on the Billboard Hot 100. Reviews highlighted the line "What if this isn't what I want" as a turning point, where the narrator stops blaming herself and starts questioning the relationship itself. It is a small but crucial shift in perspective, one that resonates with anyone who has ever wondered if the problem is them or the person they love. [편집]
