그는 연례 공포 컨벤션 Fear FestEvil을 설립하고 책 《Too Much Horror Business》를 저술했습니다.

그는 밴드의 초기 앨범 《Kill 'Em All》(1983), 《Ride the Lightning》(1984), 《Master of Puppets》(1986)에 기여했으며, 후자는 빌보드 톱 40에 진입한 최초의 스래시 메탈 앨범이 되어 29위에 올랐습니다.

Kirk Hammett stands as the 14th most famous person in Metal, a position he holds steady within the global hierarchy of heavy music. This placement reflects decades of cultural dominance where his fluid lead style and horror-obsessed persona have transcended the stage to become defining elements of the genre itself. While the collective audience for his work lacks a formal individual name beyond the massive "Metallica Nation," the energy they generate is unmistakable. Fans organize global streaming parties to ensure chart-topping debuts and engage in coordinated charity drives that often outpace industry standards. The connection between Hammett and this audience was recently highlighted by a viral moment in Dublin, where he slipped off stage during "Seek & Destroy" and immediately turned the mishap into a comedic victory with the caption "Slip & Destroy!" rather than breaking character. This resilience mirrors the ethos of the band's fanbase, who celebrate authenticity over perfection. Even when controversy strikes, such as the incident involving a Taylor Swift shirt that sparked debates on genre loyalty, the community remains deeply engaged. His status as a foundational figure in thrash metal ensures his relevance continues to grow, supported by rankings that track global attention across media coverage, search trends, and consumption signals worldwide. The iFANN Global Fame Rankings capture this enduring influence, placing him firmly among the elite of the industry.[편집]

Before joining Metallica, Hammett took guitar lessons from Joe Satriani and served as a founding member of Exodus. He replaced Dave Mustaine on the very afternoon Mustaine was fired, playing his first live show just days later. His nickname is "The Ripper," and his first instrument was a Montgomery Ward catalog special traded for $10 and a copy of Kiss's Dressed to Kill. To afford his first Marshall amplifier, he worked at Burger King as a teen. His horror obsession began at age five after watching The Day of the Triffids while recovering from a sprained arm. This passion led to his book Too Much Horror Business and the annual convention Fear FestEvil. He co-wrote the iconic riff for Enter Sandman and studied film and Asian art at San Francisco State University. Standing 5 feet 7¼ inches tall, he has appeared on numerous covers of Guitar World and Guitar Player. A legendary moment occurred in Dublin when he fell off stage during a tribute to Thin Lizzy, laughing it off with a video titled "Slip & Destroy." Another notable event involved him wearing a Taylor Swift shirt on stage, which sparked debate about genre boundaries. In July 2026, he played Gojira guitarist Joe Duplantier's signature Jackson guitar onstage in London, honoring a peer.[편집]

As things stand in 2026, iFANN currently estimates Kirk Hammett's net worth at $200 million. The bulk of this wealth stems from his four-decade tenure as lead guitarist of Metallica, one of the best-selling bands in history with over 125 million albums sold. Metallica's tours consistently rank among the highest-grossing globally, generating tens of millions per tour. Hammett also earns from album royalties, merchandise sales, and his signature ESP guitar line. He founded the horror convention Fear FestEvil, which adds to his income, and authored the book Too Much Horror Business. His solo EP Portals (2022) contributed modestly. Hammett owns real estate in the San Francisco Bay Area, including a home in the upscale neighborhood of Tiburon. His net worth has grown steadily, particularly after Metallica's resurgence with the 2023 album 72 Seasons and subsequent tours. He also has endorsement deals with ESP Guitars for signature models.[편집]
