Darren Elkins' fanbase is a brotherhood of hardcore MMA purists, drawn not to flash but to the raw, blue-collar authenticity he brought to every fight. They have no formal name, no official club, no coordinated campaigns, instead, they rally under his nickname, 'The Damage,' a brand built on his Instagram handle and the #thedamage hashtag. This is a fanbase that measures devotion in years, not likes, and their most significant moment came at his retirement fight in August 2026, when the MMA community collectively honored a career defined by relentless pressure and an iron chin.

That retirement, a 35-second TKO loss that stunned everyone, only deepened the legend. Fans and media alike had spent 16 years watching Elkins survive wars, rally from near-defeat, and outlast opponents through sheer grit. His final, fleeting moment in the octagon, tears in his eyes, a heartfelt interview with Daniel Cormier, became an instant classic, a poignant capstone that his followers will retell for years. The irony was not lost on anyone: the man who never quit went out in the blink of an eye.

As of August 2026, iFANN's Global Fame Engine has evaluated Darren Elkins but he does not currently hold a placement in the published rankings, whether the Global Top 1,000 or any Top-100 scope list. His fame, however, is not measured in rankings but in the respect of a sport that knows toughness when it sees it.[편집]

One of the most iconic moments of his career came at UFC Vegas 120 in August 2026, when he announced his retirement. In a stunning twist, he was knocked out in just 35 seconds by Yadier del Valle, a bitter irony for a fighter who had survived countless wars. The emotional octagon interview that followed, where he thanked fans and said 'Man, was it a fun ride,' became a defining moment of his farewell.

When asked if he'd consider a move to bare-knuckle boxing, Elkins famously replied that he'd 'probably die,' a self-aware quip that captured his humor and the physical cost of his career. Fans still retell that line as a perfect encapsulation of his toughness and wit.[편집]
