This name stems directly from his Instagram handle, @andrewscottie, which serves as the digital epicenter for a group known for its intense organization and high engagement on social platforms. The Scotties surged in prominence during Scott's breakout portrayal of Jim Moriarty in Sherlock, transforming him from a respected stage actor into a global phenomenon. Their influence is evident in their active campaigning for his casting and their creation of extensive video essays and fan art that dissect his character arcs, particularly the complex dynamic between Holmes and Moriarty. Following his role as the priest in Fleabag, the fandom expanded its reach, celebrating his transition to playing figures of deep emotional vulnerability while organizing charity drives for LGBTQ+ rights and mental health awareness. The collective energy of these fans often mirrors the values of the characters they admire, creating a unique ecosystem where humor, advocacy, and analysis intersect. Andrew Scott engages with this community through self-deprecating wit, maintaining a boundary while acknowledging their support.
