Typhoon Saudel flooding in Putian

Torrential rain from Typhoon Saudel has caused a dike to fail in Putian, China, allowing floodwaters to surge into villages. Over 100 homes have collapsed as residents remain missing and others are trapped by the rising water. Rainfall stations in the area recorded totals exceeding 500 mm while rivers overflowed their banks and streets became flooded channels. Authorities have moved 1,261 individuals to emergency shelters as precipitation continues in the region.
