JD Vance returns to Armco
JD Vance is returning to the Armco plant in Middletown, now Cleveland-Cliffs, where his grandfather worked as a welder for approximately 40 years. He intends to promote Donald Trump's economic nationalism plan, which includes rebuilding American industry and the middle class. Vance states the goal of stopping reliance on other countries for manufacturing. He claims the steel mill would not exist without Donald Trump's steel tariffs from the first and second administrations.

I'm very excited because apparently we're either going to do this speech in Middletown or maybe we're just going to visit the facility where my grandfather worked as a welder for close to 40 years at what's now the Cleveland Cliffs Middletown facility, but used to be Armco Steel. And again, it's such a perfect place to talk about what I think is the fundamental message of Donald Trump's economic nationalism, which is rebuilding American industry, rebuilding America's middle class in the process and making America more self-reliant. Like we have to stop relying on other people to make our stuff. We have to use American workers, American industry and American ingenuity to build the products of the future. That steel mill, frankly, wouldn't exist were it not for Donald Trump's steel tariffs from the first administration and the second administration. So it's really a perfect place to drive home this message that American self-reliance really starts with better economic policy in Washington. and that's what we've been trying to do.
