Avengers Endgame Encore China Box Office Pre-Sales

In China’s BoxOffice, after a strong rush in the first 2 days, pre-sales pacing slowed down for AvengersEndgameEncore, ahead of its SEP 25 re-release (Previews on SEP 24)! Endgame’s rerelease ends 5th day of nationwide pre-sales with a $2.2M cume on TUE, for whole SEP 24-27 period (vs TheFantasticFour’s $200k, SUPERMAN $231k, JurassicWorldRebirth $290k, Aquaman2 $518k, Apes $528k, DunePartTwo $660k, DeadReckoning’s 1.1M DeadpoolAndWolverine $1.5M, TheFinalReckoning $1.5M JurassicWorldDominion $1.7M, GodzillaXKongTheNewEmpire $2.3M, TransformersRiseOfTheBeasts $2.7M, BrandNewDay’s $3.5M 5-day pre-sales cume), with 2 days yet to go. Pre-sales breakdown: $546k SEP 24 THU Previews $1.3M SEP 25 FRI Rerelease Opening Day $251k SEP 26 SAT $80k SEP 27 SUN Keep in mind that so far “only” 49k screenings are available for pre-sales, so pacing could increase the more screenings are added in the following days. With pacing slowing down, and pre-sales heavily concentrated on THU previews & on FRI (increased risk of Opening Day extremely more frontloaded than usual, even for CBMs) any dream for a record opening for a rerelease seems off the table. Even so, it could still dream of a 3-day opening around 20M+. If it manages to get that high, it would then challenge Avatar’s $21.2M re-release opening weekend back in 2021 as the biggest Hollywood reissue’s debut in China, and it would also still be one of the biggest debuts for any CBM Post-Covid. The next 2 days will be decisive to see where it could realistically land. As long as we don’t end up with another TaylorSwiftTheErasTour situation (where it was so frontloaded that 80% of its opening grosses came from tickets sold during pre-sales in China), it’s gonna be win.
