Sam Raimi once plotted a twist for the canceled Spider-Man 4 where Bruce Campbell's character was actually Mysterio, secretly observing Peter Parker. That reveal would have come after Campbell portrayed multiple roles across the entire Spider-Man trilogy. The director later described this unfilmed cameo as a really great cameo he deeply regrets never producing.
