This attitude stood in contrast to his own perspective, as he felt compelled to demonstrate what the company could achieve because it fundamentally altered the wrestling landscape. Before AEW launched, Darby did not believe another major competitor was possible and actually thought the lack of competition was detrimental. Once the company formed, his stance shifted entirely. He became willing to do anything to be part of the roster and recognized early on that he needed to conclude his career there.
