Ronaldo Nazário says Vini was not well prepared and his technical fundamentals were not improved before leaving Brazil. He states that today, after growing up in Spain, Vini is the most decisive attacker in world football. Ronaldo notes that Vini arrived in Europe unpolished during his formative years. For many years, talents who left went away as unpolished diamonds, and he calls Vini's case clear. Vini was sold to Madrid at 18 and started with Castilla. Ronaldo recalls that everyone at the club said he would be loaned out until he returned to Brazil because he was still not made. However, Vini has developed a lot with training programs, professional methodology, and the help of great coaches. He went from water to wine in two years. Ronaldo contrasts this with his time at Flamengo, stating they did not train him correctly. They did not improve Vini's left foot or his space-time relationship on the field. According to Ronaldo, Vini only improved outside of Flamengo.
