Kacey Musgraves has described how her extended stays in Mexico shaped tracks such as Mexico Honey. She notes that it has been inspiring to spend a lot of her time there. Many of those sounds wove their way into the record. She has always been such a fan of Norteño and Tejano music. It has been fun to explore and get to see firsthand the beautiful vaquero culture and how it has made its way into Texas.
