The rule is simple: if you die in the DCU, you stay dead. James Gunn insists that resurrecting characters would strip their sacrifice of all meaning. He points to Yondu's funeral in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 as the perfect example; bringing him back would ruin the farewell. This permanent death policy extends to THE SUICIDE SQUAD too, where every kill is designed to hold real weight. As Gunn put it, "If you die, you die," and "Death means something in the DCU." The vibe here isn't about shock value but genuine consequence.
